Pirates in action off Cameroon
p2pnet news view MPAA | RIAA News:- It’s those pesky pirates again.
The last time we mentioned them, three of them had been shot and killed.
And No, it was no joke.
Well, it was, kind of, because the pirates weren’t the fakes dreamed up by Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony, for lamescream media and PR purposes.
They were the real deal: genuine robbers of the sea.
And now they’re at it again.
This time, the pirates — the real ones, that is, not the Hollywood and Big 4 versions — have kidnapped 10 people off the coast of Cameroon in west Africa.
Carrying weapons, they pirates boarded a French tug from three speedboats, says the CBC.
Last time, “the way things are going, it won’t be long before copyright infringers will end up on mortuary slabs, dead from bullet wounds received during corporate ‘busts’,” we said, citing examples of people who’d already been wounded or killed during entertainment industry inspired raids.
Nor are the Big 4 the only ones using the phoney ‘pirate’ label.
Yesterday, “Camcording a movie is as serious an offense as hacking military records, white collar crime and distribution of child porn?” – asked a p2pnet reader.
His question came a comment post to our story on Michael Logan, sentenced to 21 months in a US federal penitentiary for the heinous ‘crime’ of recording two films in a Washington, DC theater.
That was no joke, either.
