Windows 7, ‘Vista in garters and a tight sweater’

p2pnet news view | Products:- “Why should Bill Gates, Jerry Seinfeld, and Deepak Chopra have all the fun?” – wonders Dan Tynan.
After all, “Microsoft’s I’m a PC site now lets any Tom, Dick, or Mary share the spotlight — for five seconds at least, he says, going on »»»
The ’softies want you to upload a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it video stating exactly why and how you’re a PC. “Winning” entries will get to have their five seconds of fame on a TV commercial. (But, sadly, not a $10 million paycheck.)
Because all the vids are vetted, there won’t be any shenanigans like when MSFT did this two years ago with the ill-fated “Show us your Wow” video site. No hip swiveling semi-nude transvestites, for example, and no saying things like “I’m a PC because I’ve suffered severe head trauma.”
This is yet another part of Redmond’s $300 million marketing campaign for Vista — the one that started with Jerry Seinfeld, cheap shoes, and churros. Microsoft’s highly paid marketing weasels have come up with yet another so-dim-it’s-almost-brilliant slogan for this campaign, calling it “Life Without Walls.” If you have no walls, there’s no place to put the Windows. Does the word duh mean anything to you?
(According to Apple Insider, the same weasels created their first Apple-rip-off “I’m a PC” commercials starring that John Hodgman lookalike using — wait for it — Macs. Surprised? Me neither.)
Meanwhile, at the exact same moment, Microsoft is pushing Windows 7 as a replacement/improvement for Vista. Early results on the beta are mixed; Tom Yager says it’s full of small but welcome improvements, while Randall Kennedy says Windows 7 is just Vista in garters and a tight sweater. (OK, he didn’t actually say that, but we know what he meant.)
Still only one company could spend $300 million to promote a product while at the same time quietly try to shove it under the carpet. A corporation that posted more than $4 billion in profits in its most recent quarter. A company with more money than God, but far less taste.

I personally would like to see MS to make some attack ads against Apple.
Really in all truth Apple PCs are not better than Windows.
With windows it matters more as to which brand you buy.
HP ACER and DELL are the ones to really blame about vista issues.
I built my Vista Machine from ground up using high end hardware, I had to do the same thing for my XP machine.
also to be noted Vista 64 bit runs much better than its 32 bit counter part.
I think MS should not have made a 32 bit version and also made the system requirements much higher.
Such as Dual Core 2.2 G’s or higher and 2 GB Ram Min, and 512 MB Video Card Min.
Systems with the above configuration and removal of vendor bundled junk ware like Acers EManager and Norton AV (replace with NOD 32 or Kaspersky or AVG) make for a smooth sailing Vista experience.

vista is the worst operating system in the history of operating systems. Reader is comparing apples and oranges, and probably never even sat in front of an Apple. i have done everything from video creation for television, to graphic design for magazines, on both platforms, and i can speak from absolute experience. vista is the biggest friggin turd ever released, ever ever ever ever ever.
vista began development in late 2000 parallel to mac osx, a unix platform. it ended up being almost 5 years late, rushed out, and absolutely suxored.
i wont go on, but its obvious that peecee’s and vista and its playschool look is for morons who probably dont even know how to use email, whereas at least macs have the compunction to NOT insult your intelligence, and built a product that is good for a novice, or advanced *nix gurus.
oh, and btw, mac osx went 64 bit years ago.
‘….make for a smooth sailing Vista experience.., talk about your EPIC TROLL !, gui, dock, widgets, hell even the control panel interface, all stolen designs from mac.
keep your widdle playschool toy, those of us needing to actually compute, get macs.

WTH^^^^
glad you like your mac….whatever
glad someone likes vista….whatever
IMO XP is great and I will not change for either of the above. That is the great thing about life is we can all choose what we like.
However the bad thing in life is when someone with next to no education spouts off calling others morons because we all do not conform to his preferences in life.
Check into what is stolen and what is not, mac have stolen ideas also.
Those who actually compute will use linux however most of us end users do not want to learn than much so we get a mac or a PC operating system to do it for us because we cannot do it ourselves.
And as far as being a Troll,, you sir are one of the most obvious trolls on the internet as you argue things you cannot possibly justify.

re-read my post asshat, I have 18 years experience on both platforms, its kinda why I posted that part first, hence justification.
the special olympics called, they want their brain back.

oh, and btw, i make 6 figures doing software development, what do you do? checkout at wal-mart?

LOVE the blue vest genius, someone once said… and I quote.
‘Better for people to think your an idiot, than open your mouth (read post) and remove all doubt.’

I guess that confirms the blue vest attribute.

yes, Im a retard, and shouldn’t have posted, sorry.
October 31st, 2008 at 11:18 pm
so… now i have to keep xp for another couple years until windows “8″ surpasses windows 7? If you bought one of those package deals at bestbuy or whatever and your stuck with vista sucks to be you. The windows to mac argument is pointless people have different preferences personally I wouldn’t mind if MS went open source but thats just a joke with all seriousness I think MS reached their peak its downhill from here.
I certainly wont be staying tuned to hear more about Vista 2.0 sorry i mean “Windows 7″

stw ur stupid man… how could vista be the worst operating system in history when it is the most up to date? commodore 64 is like obviously the worst.. or ms 3.1
November 1st, 2008 at 5:07 am
Is up to date the same thing as “goodness”? I for one liked 3.1 for what it was at the time. I didn’t ever have windows 95, everyone was using 98 by the time i felt the need to upgrade. and no gui can match a decent touch-typer that knows the system on a command-line-interface for speed…

Unless he’s just a troll, stw is the typical dumbass Mac fanboy.

Vista IS a bloated POS, but that’s not my biggest problem with it.
What you DON’T see is the biggest problem.
What it sends home over your Internet connection without your knowledge.
How MS determines ‘Genuine’ or not ( XP is the same in that respect. )
Many, TOO many of my clients come to me with Windows machines that suddenly fail validation,
even though the machines are FACTORY LOADED with windows and have long been ‘Genuine’
Forced into safe mode because M$ is judge, jury AND executioner, without any due process.
Vista Black screen is going to be even worse.
It’s what you can’t see, that whats wrong with Windows.
