The Boss and the Boss-to-Be
p2pnet news view Music | P2P | Politics:- The family of Barack Obama, the man who’s odds-on favourite to become the next boss of the United States, briefly joined the other boss, Bruce Springsteen, on stage at an election rally in Cleveland, Ohio, over the weekend.
Some reports put the number of people attending at 80,000.
They heard, and saw, Springsteen play a set which included ‘The Rising’, the tune played to herald Obama at campaign events.
“Obama has promised them everything – hope, pride, faith, a new beginning, and in Cleveland’s case an eco-friendly car that can be built profitably in the postcode, says the Sydney Morning Herald, adding:
“American campaigning is not like Australian campaigning, where the candidate arrives in secrecy at a nursing home at 11am, scarfs a few scones, announces a $250 million aged care policy, mugs for the cameras with some carefully-vetted nanas then draws stumps for the day.
“There are no policy announcements at this end of the US campaign trail, and no press conferences.
“John McCain and Obama are now doing three or four of these super-rallies a day; the news crews stumble, cursing in their wake, endlessly setting up and dismantling cameras and trying not to mind about not having eaten since dawn.”
Will John McCain be able to pull off a miracle and overtake Obama?
Tune in tomorrow ……….
