Hotmail gets a face-lift
p2pnet.net News:- Microsoft’s Hotmail, which recently left a user bereft of a years’ worth of personal and business correspondence, photos and the itinerary for a recently purchased trip, is getting a major face-lift.
Not at all incidentally, Google and Yahoo have been testing each other for quite a few weeks, bumping up storage capacity and now Lo! – Bill and the Boyz have announced a Hotmail upgrade, "delivering customers world-class e-mail protection as well as enhanced storage to satisfy all their needs".
Starting earfly next month, Microsoft will roll out free e-mail anti-virus protection, "making MSN Hotmail the only free global e-mail service to both scan and clean incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses and worms before they can enter a customer’s inbox," says the company in a statement.
Not only but also, "MSN also announced it will bring increased storage – 250MB inboxes – to free MSN Hotmail customers in multiple markets and will introduce MSN Hotmail Plus, an upgraded premium Web service to help customers get the most out of MSN Hotmail."
Anyone wanting more storage capacity can get- up to 2g with maximum 20g attachments – for the $19.95, the price of MSN Hotmail Plus.
"MSN Hotmail Plus subscribers will receive additional benefits, including a more streamlined Web e-mail experience with no graphical advertisements and no account expiration," says Microsoft. "All current MSN Hotmail Extra Storage subscribers worldwide will be upgraded to MSN Hotmail Plus when it launches globally later this summer. MSN Premium subscribers will also receive these added storage benefits later this year."

Oh fer cripes sakes, they just charged me last month my 19.99 renewal fee for HM Plus with a whopping 10M of storage.

Instead of 20gig attachement – rediculous – it’s only up to 20 Mb – still rediculous…

I see that you can send a 20GB attachment, but who is going to be able to receive a 20GB attachment? Most corp email server barely allow 50MB attachments.
