Microsoft goes fishing for start-ups
p2pnet news view | Products:- Microsoft is trawling for business with something it’s calling BizSpark.
“Microsoft is giving away software, services and support to startups earning less than $1 million to help them get off the ground and to the next level,” says eWeek.
The next level is, of course, firmly predicated on eliminating competition such as open source products by tying companies who use BizSpark into buying Microsoft, and only Microsoft, stuff.
“Dan’l Lewin (right), corporate vice president of Strategic and Emerging Business Development at Microsoft, said with BizSpark Microsoft will be providing entrepreneurs with access to Microsoft technology, support and visibility,” says the story, going on:
“Microsoft also will provide a worldwide network of hosting partners, offering discounted hosting services to startups that would like to take their business or product online using their BizSpark licenses. Also as part of the program, Microsoft will promote the startups on the BizSparkDB, an online startup directory, the company said.”
It also has Added Lewin saying: “There are always zealots focused on ‘Anything But Microsoft.’ But for the most part, startups are pragmatic and they want to use what’s efficient.”
Which is why more and more of them are abandoning Microsoft ‘product’.

It’s funny. You try hard to be taken as a viable news source, yet you put alot of biase in your article.
“Which is why more and more of them are abandoning Microsoft ‘product’.”
I wonder if a newspaper would ever print something like that… probably not.
