Obama: curbing the influence of lobbyists
p2pnet news view | Politics:- p2pnet recently suggested president-elect Barack Obama is probably besieged by highly paid lobbyists, with entertainment cartel liesters right at the front.
But maybe not.
Presidential transition team co-chair John Podesta has announced the, “strictest, and most far reaching ethics rules of any transition team in history,” says Breaking News Online.
The rules, says the story, are »»»
- Federal Lobbyists cannot contribute financially to the transition.
- Federal lobbyists are prohibited from any lobbying during their work with the transition.
- If someone has lobbied in the last 12 months, they are prohibited from working in the fields of policy on which they lobbied.
- If someone becomes a lobbyist after working on the transition, they are prohibited from lobbying the administration for 12 months on matters on which they worked.
“President-elect Barack Obama has pledged to change the way Washington works and curb the influence of lobbyists,” says BNO, adding:
“During the campaign, federal lobbyists could not contribute to or raise money for the campaign. Today, the President-elect is taking those commitments even further by announcing the strictest, and most far reaching ethics rules of any transition team in history.”

Let me be the first to say “Screw the rules, we have money”
I’ll believe this when I see some proof.

Obama is just another politician. He’s owned by somebody, just like every other politician is.

if you read more closely, u will notice that the people allowed to lobby will be the REAL interested parties, not the big money backed special interest groups looking to grease their legislature thru.

” Obama is just another politician. He’s owned by somebody, just like every other politician is. ”
I , for one, couldn’t be happier that he has the opportunity to show me, and the
rest of America, whether or not that overly simplistic statement is true.
Sounds like GOP butthurt to me.

For now I love the idea of Obama as a president! Time will tell how he is doing but it can not be worst than this piece of crap of Bush anyway.
Now the word situation is very dear and we need a super presdent to fix it. I am hoping that Obama is this super president. Our last super president was Roosvelt. although Clinton has been a great president doing most thing right.
I caqn believe that this Bushy still has the nerve to show it’s stupid face on TV after all the crimes it comited against our nation. There is no law agaisnt beeing a bad president but there is one agaisnt trempling the constitution and comitting war crime. When are we going to trow this piece of crap in prison?
Or will it be like in France in 1989 when Louis the XVI paid for the messed created by Louis the XV?
We should not let this hapen!

” Or will it be like in France in 1989 when Louis the XVI paid for the messed created by Louis the XV? ”
The way the MCCain Campaign deliderately exascerbated the already strained ‘class’ relations here,
it will be VERY tough for President Obama to do ANYTHING without being deliberately sabotaged, or
otherwise hampered, so that the other ’side’ can point it’s finger, regardless of who gets hurt.
It’s obvious from some of the comments here and on other boards that many GOP supporters are perfectly
happy to make sure Obama won’t be able to help anyone, then avoid taking responsibility for their OWN
actions.
If we don’t at least TRY to come together as a Country no one will gain anything.
Things will only get worse.
That’s what the GOP wants, and wants badly.
