Obama to his Blackberry: Farewell, dear friend!
p2pnet news view Politics | Mobiles:-That Barack Obama likes the Net has now been pointed out so often, the statement is becoming trite.
Not to further belabour the point, “For all the perquisites and power afforded the president, the chief executive of the United States is essentially deprived by law and by culture of some of the very tools that other chief executives depend on to survive and to thrive,” says the New York Times.
It’s talking about the fact that once he officially takes over the reins of power, he’ll probably have to give up a small Canadian communications device that’s been with him for years.
His Blackberry.
It’s, “rarely been far from his side,” says the story, continung, “on most days, it was fastened to his belt — to provide a singular conduit to the outside world as the bubble around him grew tighter and tighter throughout his campaign.”
But before he arrives at the White House, he may well be forced to sign off, says the story, going on:
“In addition to concerns about e-mail security, he faces the Presidential Records Act, which puts his correspondence in the official record and ultimately up for public review, and the threat of subpoenas.”
Not to worry.
Obama, “seems intent on pulling the office at least partly into the 21st century on that score,” says the NYTm, adding that ccording to aides, he hopes to have a laptop computer on his desk in the Oval Office, “making him the first American president to do so”.

You mean George Bush Jr. does not have a computer in his office? LOL
As for Obman’s Crackberry, I’m sure if he needs a fix, he could borrow one of his aids…..

Not all news is news to all. I have to second the thought of KChan though, I thought that George Bush Jr. would have one on his desk…
