LMAO "Theres no evidence to support leaving a computer on continuously uses more electricity ..."
Mind if i come over and leave your car running all day long? See how much you bitch when u run out of gas ... ROFL.

LMAO 2 "Bell Canada has statistics backing it up."
i sure would like to see them and compare them against their real logs ... if Bell ever let's you in to compare them. Oh please Do post them ;)
Don't stay tuned, he'll never post 'em unless he steals 'em from Bell : P

Would it be fair if I bought the street around their building and charged them $1M to leave it and only allowed 1 at a time?

Of course not.

There shouldn't be any private monopolies.

If something is a natural monopoly, it should be a customer owned.

To John:

No--that's not just my opinion! Since Bell came up with this unbelievable statistic that a few people are using 95% of Bell's entire bandwidth capacity many former Bell insiders have said that's crap! I haven't kept a record of these websites, I've continual read about this subject this the spring. Also, I do have first hand experience from an electrical engineer that I know who says that's preposterous! This man told me if Bell knew of let's say 100 IP addresses or even knew of the top 1000 IP addresses that were overburdening Bell's DSL network, all Bell has to do is just throttle them directly! Then Bell wouldn't have a problem but Bell's statistics don't hold up because they are throttling everyone! Bell isn't throttling the few bandwidth hogs in Canada, they are specifically going against net neutrality by specifically identifying the different types of data that is being transmitted and is choosing to throttle only bit torrent traffic from all Canadians! That's why Bell's stats are unbelievable! I hardly use bit torrent but when I do, during Bell's throttling peak times my download speed using utorrent drops from 400 kB/s to just 25 kB/s! I'm not one of those handful of bandwidth hogs, so I shouldn't be throttled by Bell! But everybody using certain data sharing software programs are throttled at peak times by Bell--that's why Bell's stats are phony! If Bell was telling the truth, then first Bell wouldn't be differentiating data traffic, it would just throttle all data from those few bandwidth hogs! Second, Bell's stats don't add up because Bell is throttling all Canadians no matter their history of usage if they use certain types of data sharing software programs! So therefore Bell's statistics don't add up--that's a fact and not an opinion John!!!!

^^ It's a case of mistaken identity.

There's a rogue out there named AntiSpyware 2008 XP that's doing all of the damage.

Cheers!

Off topic, but since there is no way to contact otherwise readily visible on the page I thought you should know that one of the ads is for a known rogue program that has been responsible for a new rash of infections including trojans and password stealers. It's the one for anti spyware for windows. Even thought it says 2007, it's dumping the 2008/2009 version from it's website. Don't believe me, check out any reputable anti soyware forum.

Re: "Well Bell Canada is saying only a handful of people are using up 95% of its capacity (that’s too unbelievable to be true)"

Reality is stranger than fiction. Bell Canada has statistics backing it up. All you seem to have here is biased opinion. Have you never read True Crime Stories or watched Ripley's Believe it or Not? It seems your view of the world is that if you don't believe it, it must not be true. Your senses fool you.

but of course leaving your computer on when you might not have been using it, is a waste of electricity. To retract part of my statement above.

the "age of global warming awareness" LOL

the whole thing is ridiculous. Theres no evidence to support leaving a computer on continuously uses more electricity, in some cases it has been argued the opposite. If your going to debate traffic throttling it should be with logic and facts not ManBearPig's (alGore) corrupt statistics.
