Are you there, Big Music?

p2pnet.net News:- OT but …

… Blackie, Eric Clapton’s favourite guitar, fetched almost $960,000 in a New York auction staged to benefit a drug treatment centre in Antigua and Barbuda.

Blackie was built from different Strats Clapton bought in Nashville and he used it in most of his stage shows in the 1970s and 1980s.

Very appropriately, he played it for the first time more than 30 years ago during a concert organised by The Who’s Pete Townshend to encourage Clapton’s own recovery from drug addiction.

It was one of 88 guitars and other items he and other musicians donated to raise money for the centre.

With the venal Big Five record labels do everything they can to make themselves and, by default, the artists under contract to them look really bad, it’s good to see musicians of Clapton’s stature contributing to society in a meaningful way.

Clapton lives in Antigua and funded the Crossroads treatment centre, which opened in 1998.

I guess when music co’s stop cramming c-rap as the ONLY style of music down our throats(kinda like rape),then there’ll be money for everyone again.Remember the ’70s?

Really you’re right…hip hop has nothing to offer and yet is taking credit for all of the societal changes for the last 20 years. Live music is becoming the only refuge left. get a strat and turn it up!
