DA ‘no show’ in Dick Cheney prison case
p2pnet news view | Crime:- US co-president Dick Cheney (right) and ex-attorney general Alberto Gonzales have been indicted for ‘organized criminal activity” centering on the alleged abuse of inmates in private Texas prisons, said p2pnet, quoting a US Politics Today press release.
But, “Cheney, Gonzales and the others will not be arrested, and do not need to appear in person, Presiding Judge Manuel Banales said,” says Newsday, going on Willacy County district attorney Juan Guerra, who’d organised the indictment, failed to turn up in court.
So the judge ordered Texas Rangers to go to Guerra’s house, “check on his well-being and order him to court Friday,” says the story.
Cheney and Gonzales are charged with, “engaging in organized criminal activity,” having, “neglected federal prisoners and are responsible for assaults in the facilities”.
Cheney is charged with a, “conflict of interest because of his influence over the county’s federal immigrant detention center and his substantial holdings in the Vanguard Group, which invests in private prison companies”.
Gonzales is said to have halted an investigation into the alleged abuse while he was attorney general.
Stay tuned.

wow, for being two scumbags that will soon be raped in prison, Dick Cheney and Alberto Gonzales both have pretty big smiles across their face… Maybe they’re already fantasizing about how much fun they will have.

Cheney has been dodging the law in more than one place. In France he had to high tail it out before charges were brought against him for Geneva Convention violation charges. In France, once such a charge is made and the accused has been picked up, they can’t leave the country till its had its day in court.
When Bush leaves office, I expect we will hear a lot of stories about things that went on behind closed doors and far more we will never hear of.

Wow, what cutting edge material, guys. Cheney is pulling the strings in the Bush administration? Some politicians in some countries aren’t happy about the way Bush has done things? Do tell?
