Staff fired over sick Gary Glitter ‘joke’
p2pnet news view Music:- Fifteen people working for the South Lanarkshire Council in Scotland have been have been fired after using the faces of children on an email pic of alleged paedophile Gary Glitter, a former rock star.
The picture, of Glitter carrying a shopping bag with a child’s head superimposed on it, came from the council’s own at-risk register, says the Sunday Mirror.
South Lanarkshire Council confirmed they’d fired the miscreants, says the Daily Record, adding:”But they rejected claims the child’s image was taken from their at-risk register.
“A spokeswoman said: ‘A number of employees have been dismissed and others received final written warnings’.”
A question on the Glitter hit I’m The Leader Of The Gang was recently dropped from Britain’s GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education).

I have never read an article with so few accurate facts, this is irresponsible journalism of the worst kind. The false allegation that Council staff used photographs of young people on the child protection register is beyond belief. If I was one of those tainted by this smear I would engage the services of a good lawyer and sue you. I would also demand a full apology on the front page of this rag.

I am absolutely appalled by this – South Lanarkshire Council do not read into things enough and they are fecking shocking!! To those staff that were sacked (Some very good friends) u should get a good lawyer and take them the full road!! It was merely a fecking basic joke that was blew out of proportion!! If South Lanarkshire Council was to do a full investigation and read every1’s e-mails folk would get sacked 4 more important scandals!! FU SLC!!
