p2pnet.net News:- Cisco is in for some Asian competition.
Hitachi and NEC have joined forces to market backbone routers/switches for networks to telecomm carriers, government and public sectors and large corporations.
They say they’ll establish a joint venture company in October 2004, “providing highly competitive products.”
Based in Tokyo, the new company will have about 350 employees drawn from both firms.
Hitachi (60%) is the majority owner. NEC will have the remaining 40%.
The as yet unnamed company will supply products to Hitachi and NEC, who will sell to their individual clients, says a statement here.
