MPAA’s Dan Glickman announces 3D movies!
p2pnet news view | MPAA News:- The first 3D film show in front of a paying audience took place at the Astor Theater, New York, on June 10, 1915, says 3dgear.com, going on:
“The program consisted of three one-reelers, the first of rural scenes in the USA, the second a selection of scenes from Famous Players’ Jim, the Penman (US ‘15), with John Mason and Marie Doro, and the third a travelog of Niagara Falls.
“The anaglyphic process used, developed by Edwin S. Porter and W.E. Waddell, involved the use of red and green spectacles to create a single image from twin motion picture images photographed 2½ inches apart.”
Never let it be said that Lightning Dan Glickman, Hollywood’s chief stunt man, fails to keep up with developments in modern technology.
As the man who runs the corporate music industry’s MPAA, part of his job is to identify, and then promote, exciting new Hollywood innovations and, “3D technology is a genuine revolution in the experience of enjoying a film,” he told an, “international audience of film exhibitors, distributors and industry representatives” during the First International Festival of 3D Movies in Singapore.
3D flicks, now close to a century old, are, “confirmation of the dawn of a new era, an era filled with possibility, fuelled by innovation and which will advance the timeless and global art of storytelling through the unique and profound medium of film,” burbled Glickman, adding:
“I believe the extraordinary innovation we have seen here on display barely scratches the surface of the innovation that lies before us. The future remains a mystery – and at times thrilling one to ponder – as so many filmmakers do,” he declared, adding:
“But today holds so much promise for this artform, for the filmmakers who make it so meaningful to our modern lives, and for the industry that makes it possible and shares it with the world”.
Now you know.

oh no!, I made innuendo of a movie, ( I never even actually named the movie in question) owned and copyrighted by Warner Bros., (copyright proof is waivered, innuendo is already substantiated, due to DMCA takedown automated request ) containing derogatory comments towards said infringement could be considered libel, due to my un-sanctioned opinion that your crap is, well, crap. And potential ‘fair use’ torture because I actually posted a quote from said copyrighted movie, owned by Warner Bros in my retort.
THE Joker.

Not to give the MPAA undo credit, but I think that Glickman is referring to James Cameron’s Avatar project. What Cameron has in mind is not your parents 3D movie technology, or even like the Journey To The Center Of The Earth remake.
According to what I’ve read, Cameron has been working on this technology since before Titanic. Reportedly, Cameron invited Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson to his studio for a short sample. Apparently their jaws were on the floor by the end of the film. Both said that movies in general will never be the same after Avatar. Cameron speaks about it in depth here:

Heres a crazy idea!
How about you start releasing all major blockbusters, the ones most likely to be pirated, in 3D. The recorded quality would be shit, so no one would even bother uploading them to any torrent sites. Then we can actually find decent releases on TPB/Demonoid
