I voted for Harper!!! The people of Canada voted for HARPER!!! NOT DION. This is frustrating and maddening! We are not russia we are a free country who is allowed to vote whom we want in. We have a choice in Canada unlike some other unfortuantes countries – we lost many people in a war to keep our freedom of whom to have in power. I hope Canada doesn’t take this in an easy going manner. We have the freedom to vote in whom we want, if the sore losers whom we Canadians decided cannot run our country are going to try to manipulate their way in I and many other Canadians will be very upset. Are we going to loose our freedom to vote from now on. I am truly upset over this!!! I think Harper is doing an excellent job, the economy is not good any where right now and Harper is keeping us from going under.

I don’t understand politics but to me this is a step closer to loosing our rights and a step closer to being a communist Country.

“Ummm you may want to get with the program. There will be NO election…”

Even though a coalition of this type is not a common occurence in Canada, and that such a coalition needs to be sanctioned by the Governor General, you can state it will happen! (Well good for you!)

There’s nothing wrong with my grasp of “the program”, that’s for sure.

I stated we already have a condition of “dysfunctionality” in the House.
While, I’d probably be a lot more comfortable with the proposed coalition (I never wanted Harper in, that’s for sure), I still say, when you reach the state our government is in, “throwing out the whole lot of ‘em” may make more sense in the long run.

While I relish the thought of sending Harper out on his ass, along with the whole PC Party, Layton and Dion have both done their fair share of childish mudslinging, and have not demonstrated the appropriate level of intelligence to lead this country successfully either. I think they’ve all collectively shattered public confidence in the Canadian Governmental Process. Look how many didn’t vote.

I think the decision rests with the Governor General. If she thinks the government isn’t working, she can decide to call another election or allow a coalition government. All the Conservatives need to do is openly state that they are open to suggestions and recommendations from the opposition on an economic platform and stimulus packages. then the Governeor General has ZERO REASON to allow an opposition coalition government.

Ummm you may want to get with the program. There will be NO election. A majorty coalition take over is allowed and is what will happen.

Also, we shouldn’t be bailing out the automotive sector and other bullshit “economic stimulus” as they are planning.

Harper needs to go, and this is a perfect way out.

If the present scene continues much longer, Canada’s fucked!

At a time when we desperately need a solid government, we’ve got a completely dysfunctional House.
Our politicians are doing nothing but wasting our money and publicly slandering each other, while corporate interests continue to burn our very Constitution with little or no obstruction.

My question here is, should Canadians remain “complacent” while yet another election is being forced, or should we, in fact, be insisting they ALL take the choice of knuckling down and getting to work or GET OUT!?? We really should have the option of replacing the entire House when it gets this childish.

In order to have a voice that will challenge the Corporate Machine’s agenda, we NEED a solid, established government.
Right now, we have NOTHING!

Id rather anybody but the conservatives in control Stephen harper gets his economic updates from his mother who just sits at home watches the news all day. As far as him having a masters degree in economics I dont know how true that is but he was certainly spreading the same lies as the republican party in the US. I recall “The fundamentals of our economy are strong” John Mccain, Stephen Harper, Jim Flaherty… singing the same tune.

I voted for Harper’s Conservatives because Harper has a Master’s degree in economics – perfect for managing Canada’s position during an economic crisis. Dion is only a Sociologist, Layton doesn’t seem to understand that corporations actually employ most workers, and the Greens are irrelevant.

Dion can’t lead his own party – totally unfit for PM in any kind of coalition. Plus, the Conservatives have too many seats for a Liberal/NDP coalition to do anything. The NDP/Libs don’t have enough seats to form a majority without the Bloc. The Bloc are not a Federalist party, and are the complete opposite of Liberals on platforms like health care. NDPS are different from both of them too on almost all counts. Prime Minister Dion would last a week and we’d be going back to the polls before next spring.
