MPAA site hacked?

p2pnet news view | MPAA News:- The MPAA’s http://mpaa.org/ is always good for a laugh and at 10:15 am Pacific, we headed over to see if front man Dan ‘The Joker‘ Glickman had come up with any interesting new non sequiturs, lately.

But what we saw was »»»

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error ‘80004005′

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/_includes/connection.asp, line 7

Or »»»

Provider error ‘80004005′

Unspecified error

/_includes/connection.asp, line 7

By 10:26 am, the site still wasn’t showing anything and, could this mean something interesting is going on?- we wondered.

Or not?

Not. Because by 10:27 am it was back online with the news that in Peru on November 30, “participating theatres will offer tickets at S/.3.50″.

Cheap tickets, eh?

“The purpose of these special promotions is to promote and re-enforce the habit of movie-going,” it says, also noting that as part of Hollywood’s Peruvian ‘Crusade Against Piracy,’ night vision goggles have been acquired for, “all movie theaters”.

;)

this is a broken ODBC driver between the ‘front end’ and the database. It’s nice to see they are using the lame-est scripting language available, .asp. Probable maintenance, or mirroring in effect. HIGHLY unlikely its a hack, but their own incompetence.

and thanks for maintaining the required naming convention for this asshat.

    stw

  2. Reader's Write Says:

That’s not anything but a honey pot. They put that up there because they know they have an image problem with the public as well as those they claim they represent. It’s a way for them to gather info.

  3. surfer Says:

no, actually they suck farts from dead seagulls on the beach…

Jon: the images linked have your local directory structure. Not on the server, only on your PC…
