Leona Lewis busts digital download record
p2pnet news view Music:- The latest single from singer Leona Lewis has become the fastest-selling digital-only track in the UK, says the BBC, going on:
“Snow Patrol cover Run, which was never originally intended to be released as a single, was downloaded almost 70,000 times in its first two days.
“It beats Estelle’s American Boy, which sold 51,857 downloads in a week to become the biggest digital-only single.”
Amazing!
Obviously, that must mean Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG’s BPI (British Phonographic Industry) has been extraordinarily successful in keeping the track off the supposedly illegal online sites.
But No.
In fact, it’s on all of the major P2P networks, not to mention YouTube where there’s a video of Run with the embedding disabled, and another with audio only.
But, if it’s doing so well on the corporate sites, how could that possibly be? After all, ‘illegal’ downloading spells death to corporate ‘product’.
Doesn’t it?
No need to stay tuned.

It just goes to show that the majority of the people that download songs from p2p networks may not be people who would buy the music anyways. Most of the songs I download I would never buy I just like to listen to it at certain times. But it wouldnt ruin my life if I didnt get to hear the song. If people truly like the artist they are going to pay the buck for the digital download or buy the cd.
I was talking with someone the other day at Best Buy buying the new Nickelback cd and asked why he was buying th ecd instead of just downloading the songs especially seeing it is legal in Canada. He said he likes the band and doesnt mind paying 10 bucks for the cd (on sale). He also said having cds makes his bookshelf look neat and people can see all the different cds he has.
