Barenaked Ladies back in action

p2pnet news view Music:- The Barenaked Ladies were hard at it over the weekend with their first show since Steve Page was busted for possession of illegal drugs.

“Former90210 hunk Jason Priestley” was as, “stunned as most Barenaked Ladies fans” when his friend, Page, was found guilty of drug charges earlier this year,” said the Canadian Press recently.

A note on the BNL site shortly after Page was arrested stated»»»

Many of you have probably read or heard press accounts about Steven Page’s recent arrest in New York State.

Steven has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and the validity of the charges against Steven will be strongly contested.

While this is happening, it’s business as usual for Barenaked Ladies. We will continue to perform and look forward to heading into the studio later this year to record a new album.

But,  it was far from business as usual for the band, one of Canada’s favourites,”said p2pnet, going on:

“Among other things, Page’s adventures forced it to cancel a kids’ concert slated for Disney Music Block Party on Long Island, New York.”

“During a break in rehearsals this week, Barenaked Ladies’ keyboard player Kevin Hearn has no difficulty admitting the obvious,” says the Ottawa Citizen, which has him admitting, “It’s been a tough year.”

“In July, the band’s squeaky-clean image was severely tarnished after the arrest in Syracuse, New York, of its co-founder and lead singer, Steven Page, on charges of cocaine possession,” says the story, adding:

“The charges were later reduced to misdemeanours and it’s expected they’ll be dismissed when Page returns to court in April.”

Now, on the BNL site, “with every wish of mazel tov I am also greeted with looks of incredulity, queries into the state of my health, whispers of ‘who’s that guy?’, and since my recent public appearances, there’s been a spate of gossip, shock, awe, concern, delight, and just plain playa-hatin’ (on the internet?? NO!!),” he says.

And, “For those who want to know – I’m doing great. Yes, it’s been a terrible year for the band, and for me personally, but there have also been many things to be happy and grateful for: Falling in love, a renewed sense of peace, the best health of my adult life, some amazing creative and artistic opportunities, and the chance for a renewed and fruitful relationship with my band, friends and loved ones.”
