Dark Knight on DVD — out today

p2pnet news view | Movies:- “… as I write this article, I’m watching a blu-ray rip of The Dark Knight on the 52? that I got from South Korea. Unfortunately there’s an annoying text claiming the movie is ‘Property of Warner Bros’ at the bottom of the screen. But that’s ok. I don’t mind.”

That’s p2pnet contributer surfer, and according to Warner, and Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney, the other six members of the Hollywood movie gang who year after year report ever increasing revenues on a scale sufficient to support small nations,  they’re being “devastated” by file sharers.

Dark Knight is the latest Batman flick, slated for release Mark II in January for Oscar award screening purposes.

Speaking of file sharers, according to MPAA boss Dan ‘The Joker’ Glickman, they’re the scum of the earth, and according to Warner anti-pirateer Trevor Albery, they’re a huge threat to corporate profits as they sneak into cinemas wielding camcorders manufactured by the likes of Sony, one of the biggest complainers, to record feature flicks which soon after appear online and in black markets around the world.

However, as anyone who’s ever downloaded a Hollywood movie for review purposes will tell you, “Property of Warner Bros” or something like “work copy” or “for consideration only,” or movies which go from colour to black-and-white, every 10 or 15 minutes, are at least as common as cam copies.

Where do they come from?

Hollywood insiders, a fact Glickman never mentions.

Meanwhile, Dark Knight is minting cash for Warner, breaking one record after another, promising to bust the One Billion Dollar barrier, if it hasn’t done so already. And as we pointed out earlier, it’ll be re-released, driving revenues even higher.

Warner must be laughing all the way to the bank, and yet, “The Dark Knight is quickly on its way to earning the dubious honor of being the most pirated movie of 2008,” said Matt Asay in CNet News recently, going on:

“What a perverse message to send to the movie studios: we love your product so much that we refuse to pay for it. How do we expect the industry to invest in more movies like The Dark Knight if we aren’t willing to fund that investment?”

With a billion bucks stashed away, that shouldn’t be a problem, Matt.

Meanwhile, the DVD release of The Dark Knight hits stores today, an event guaranteed to generate even more hard cash and, “Plenty of fans shelled out to see The Dark Knight in theaters multiple times,” says the Associated Press, adding:

“They might wind up doing the same on home video, given how the studio is skimping with the extras on the initial DVD and Blu-ray releases.

“The overseers at Warner Bros. clearly sense that after everyone pays up to get their own copy of the movie, many will fork over yet more cash down the line for whatever extras-loaded special editions are inevitably released at some future date.”

No need to stay tuned.

“if you’re not going to buy it, you might as well have it, right?”

    that’s the motto i live by :D

and another story pointing out the stupidity of big hollywood corporations, you’d have thought they’d be pleased about the films success? and especially the money they’re going to suck out of multiple DVD releases

  3. free1 Says:

  4. Jay Says:
