Tom Cruise the Singer!

p2pnet news view Music | Movies:- Are you sitting down?

Then we’ll begin.

Cult of Scientology spokesman-cum-Hollywood actor Tom Cruise wants to be a singer.

No. Really!

The Toronto Star says so!

Wee Tom, as  Marg Abian calls him, was in Toronto and, “anxious to spend a couple of days promoting Valkyrie,” says the story, going on:

“The movie, which opens Christmas Day, stars Cruise in the true story of Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, who lead a plot to overthrow Adolph Hitler by assassinating him in 1944.”

To briefly digress, “I serve my country, but I HAVE betrayed my conscience,” intones Tom Cruise in the final, final [HD quality] YouTube Valkyrie (or Valcurry, as Tom would have it) trailer, p2pnet said recently.

Well, he did intone. But the original HD trailer is “no longer available”.

Perhaps that’s just as well.

Anyway,  “With sound of clocks ticking and hearts beating (OK, one heart and one clock) in the background, leading Cult of Scientology propagandist von Cruise stars as Colonel Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, who led the 1944 plot to rid the world of Hitler,” we said, going on to quote his son, 72-year-old Berthold von Stauffenberg, now a retired German army officer and the oldest of Claus von Stauffenberg’s five children, as saying:

“It’s bound to be rubbish.”

Back to Wee Tom as a singer, ” we’ve never heard him sing,” says the Toronto Star, which has him stating, “Exactly!” – and “slapping his knees with his palms”.

“I will sing, if I can fid [sic] the right one, I will sing and you will tell me if I did it or not. It’s an interesting challenge.”

We’re sure that’ll be child’s play for Herr Cruise.

And back to the trailer, “I won’t be seeing it [the movie],”says Marg Abian in a Reader’s Write, adding:

“The trailer makes me cringe and wee Tom is a crappy actor with a limited range. He uses the same facial expression for every character he plays.

“Like Pauline Kael said about someone’s emotional acting range: They run the gamut from a-b.”

If you really must see the trailer, you’ll find all kinds on YouTube — with the embed script removed .

But we found one they missed. For the moment.

p2pnet, we hardly knew ye… in b4 your ass gets served with a subpeona.

  2. Bob Says:

Wow. That’s impressive. Just when you thought he couldn’t get any more lame, somehow, he manages.

But then, that’s what $cientology is all about, man, isn’t it? Constant improvement.

  3. ¿uoods Says:

I’m actually liking the cinematography of the film. Its a shame Cruise is in it, he utterly clangs in it.

Aside from the star happening to be a scientologist, I fail to see how it will be a propaganda piece for the cult. Is there something I’m missing? Does L. Ron Hubbard arrive in a UFO at the climax to rescue Claus from Hitler or something?

  4. Reader's Write Says:

This is a movie I will not be interested in seeing. I won’t pay to see it, won’t download it, and will ignore the hype over it. Come next year, no one will remember it being added to the trash pile of movies that aren’t worth seeing.

Scientology’s contamination can not help but seep out of his character and I have no interest in Scientology whatever nor what they may support as a result of that. The relation with the cult has ended any idea of mine that Cruise might be a worthy actor. In my opinion he’s not.

  5. John Says:

Forget Scientology or Cruise, I’m a WW2 history buff and am vary much looking forward to the story brought to screen. Why the big neg committs about Scientology? I don’t believe in it but what does that have to do with the history being told? All I care about is how accurate is the story, forget faith or the actors.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

    Looks like a good film.

  7. Reader's Write Says:

    “From the director of:”
    “Usual Suspects”
    “X-Men”
    “Superman Returns”

hmm… why would anyone advertise the fact that they were associated with Superman Returns? Bad idea Bryan Singer, for it was both a critical and commercial failure by any standard. Aside from this, I will probably watch this film.

  8. Jon Says:

    @John:

    “I’m a WW2 history buff”

Me too. That’s why I won’t be bothering with Wee Tom.

    Cheers!

  9. Mark Says:

I am amazed at how much hatred people have for someone else. I love being able to have freedom to choose religion, faith,
whatever in North America. There is no happiness to be found in criticizing others, we would be better off spent looking at our
own lives and actions and attempting to change those for the better. Anyone who can stay in any career, let alone Hollywood, for so long must be very focused, capable and smart. Regardless of whether I like Tom Cruise as an actor or not, I can appreciate this, and also
appreciate a very good historical figure being brought to light. Thank you for bringing this story and person to light further for mainstream audiences around the world. I will go to see it.

  10. Reader's Write Says:

I for one have absolutely no doubt that tom will sing exquisitely. He’s been through the Scientology superpower training program. He can see the future, percieves with total clarity. He has access to senses that you and i can only dream of. Singing with perfect pitch is trivial to a man of his abilities.
(Mark, i have no problem with freedom of religion, but it ends where my nose begins. The cult is less of a religion and more of an extremely aggressive brainwashing program which cynically seeks to avoid public scrutiny and gain special concessions by disguising itself as a religion)

  11. SCIENTYOLOGY IS AN EVIL CULT Says:

Scientology is an evil cult. This BUINSESS is run like the Nazi’s did business. Their main agenda is to “clear the planet”and have everyone be a Scientologist and to supress any critics. Hmmm sound familiar? Hello Hitler!
It’s not a religion in ANY strecth of the imagination.
Even with Tom being an “OT VII” his OT powers did not land him a succesfful movie.
I would never support this film.
Tom Cruise supports Scientology which supports an orginazation that has their own navy called the Sea Org. LOOK IT UP.
The Sea Org has child and elderly abuse and many many crimes and atrocities. LOOK IT UP.
Go to http://www.exscientologykids.com for ACTUAL exmember’s testimonies. YOU WILL BE HORRIFIED.

Also google Scientology. How any member can deny all the information that has been exposed about this cult, boggles my mind. I guess if you are brainswashed and you follow blindly without questioning or seeking the truth, then you won’t believe what you read out there, even though there are TESTIMONIES and sworn afidavits FROM EX MEMBERS.
Scientologit’s expect US to believe what they write, although they refuse to look any further than their stupid Hubbard books and tapes. And don’t get me started on Hubbard the con man.
