p2pnet news view | TV:- Famous British animator Oliver Postgate, who created Ivor the Engine, has died at the age of 83.
Other characters loved by children included The Clangers, Bagpuss, Noggin the Nog, and Pingwings, says the Press Association.
They appeared on the BBC and ITV from the 1950s, says the story, going on:
“Postgate’s creations were made by Smallfilms, the company he set up with the artist and puppeteer Peter Firmin, and he also narrated all its productions.
“Ivor the Engine, a series for ITV about a little Welsh steam engine who wanted to sing in a choir, was their first creation,” says the BBC, adding:
“London-born Postgate made his last film in 1987, complaining that children’s television commissioners were no longer interested in what he had to offer.
“In October this year, the rights to many of his characters were bought by company Coolbai, which said it planned to introduce Bagpuss to a new generation.”Did you enjoy this story, or find it interesting/useful? Help keep the posts coming by donating. No amount is too small. Cheers! And thanks.
