Dziekanski tasered 5 times in 31 seconds

p2pnet news view | Crime:- Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski, who didn’t speak English, was tasered at least twice by the RCMP after waiting 10 hours at the Vancouver International Airport, says the Vancouver Sun.

The gun, euphemistically described by the Mounties as an “energy weapon,” was used to subdue him so four officers could get him into handcuffs, kneeling on him to do so.

But Dziekanski died and now it’s been revealed his wasn’t hit twice by the taser’s electically-charged bullets.

He was hit five times, and all within the space of 31 seconds, says a second Vancouver Sun story.

RCMP superintendent Wayne Rideout, leader of an investigation by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said an RCMP spokesman had initially issued incorrect information, it states.

“The mistake was made in the rush to provide the media information immediately after the incident,” he said, according to the post.

The four Mounties who took Dziekanski down were acting within accepted police procedures, said the enquiry. They’ve been exonerated of any criminal wrongdoing and will testify at a public hearing in January.

While police thought Dziekanski was intoxicated, “the Crown revealed Friday that no drugs or alcohol were found in his system, and that he had an unopened bottle of Polish vodka with him,” says the Vancouver Sun, adding »»»

Dziekanski’s mother, Zofia Cisowski, was upset when told by officials on Thursday that no charges would be laid against the four officers, her lawyer, Walter Kosteckyj, said Friday.

“Her initial reaction was, ‘How can you tell me a Taser was deployed five times on my son and it isn’t excessive?’” the lawyer recalled.

She also questioned why officers “jumping” on her son to restrain and handcuff him wasn’t considered excessive force, he said.

“They [the RCMP] said they don’t have any legal responsibility,” Kosteckyj said, but added that his client plans to file a civil lawsuit against police.

“They just mishandled the entire situation,” said the lawyer and former Mountie.

He pointed out that Dziekanski, seconds before he was first jolted with the Taser, told police in Polish: “Have you lost your mind? What are you doing?”

Stay tuned.

22 deaths in canada and counting.

  2. free1 Says:

Further proof of the incompetence and terrorist tactics by RCMP. This is usual of about 75% of cops in Canada. They have become Police and not Peace officers.

Differences between the two, actually 3: and they are major and many [some pointed out here]

    Peace officers:
    - are there to serve Canadians
    - will provide their badge number, ID and business card when asked
    - will protect and respect human rights and laws first and business interests or property damage only if need be
    - will find out what the problem is before any action is taken
    - will find out and deal with situation at hand in peaceful manner
    - will take the time to solve a problem no matter how long it takes [it's their job]
    - use investigative tactics instead of fear or terrorist ones
    - will protect you … instead of arrest you and ask questions later
Any community can designate, bond and hire a peace officer or officers to do these tasks

    Police:
    - work for corporations and government
    - are supposed to be there to protect business property or any corporate interests
    - they protect government services [highways, insurance, infrastructure, taxes, officials, etc.]
    - are there to accuse, threaten, take down [sometimes kill] and arrest first [if they can get away with it]
    - their unspoken mandate is to quash any resistance or opposition as any cost, worry about consequences later
    - they translate laws as they see fit, first being ones set by or for corporations and not laws of free Canadians as they should be
    - they use code of silence and cover-up in any situation where they have done wrong
    - in most cases they refuse or sidestep giving out their Badge number, ID, and business cards [all these are explicitly necessary in order to find out if a cop is actually one or if they are impostors, even if they drive up in a cop car] … providing these one can check with dispatch or main branch if they are a cop, in real time or at the time you are approached

    RCMP Royal Canadian Mounted Police:
    - first operative word is “Royal” – they are a remnant of Royal guard, Royal family’s guard and or Queen’s guard
    - their mandate is to protect Royalty in Canada and deal with situations as Royalty deems fit, laws be damned. You know, all those families that are tied to British crown and not the English people … or for that matter Canadians
    - they were/are meant to police Crown land. The land that some decided to give to United Nations without permission of Canadians
    - If you are caught on Crown land [ex crown land] by RCMP you are in deep shit
    - nuff said here

So thing carefully about what and who you’re dealing with next time a cop shows up.

wow, had no idea the canadian kilted yaksmen were such assholes. This is really taking alot of the fun out of being arrested by dudley do-right :P

Problem is the RCMP, get away with murder. and much more. The young officer just out of the academy, probably wants to do good police work. However, an officer who commits a crime, is always covered up, by all the other members in the detachment, or risks his career, because the RCMP, don’t like whistle blowers. They should disband the RCMP. They need to get rid of all the police officers, that have committed the crimes. That would at least give the younger officers a chance to do good police work.
