Is Google God?
p2pnet news view | Advertising:- You’ve heard of CoS? Now meet CoG.
Or put another way, you know all about the Cult of Scientology. Now meet the Cult (sorry, Church) of Google.
Yes.
Behind it is the Not Very Reverend Matt MacPherson who lives in Ontario, Canada.
We came across this on Facebook where we learned Wikipedia founder Jimbo Wales has signed up.
Speaking of the Wikipedia, MacPherson founded the CoG in August 2006, “while he was out sick from work for two weeks,” it says, or used to say, adding:
“The exact date is unclear, as the first archiving of the CoG on the Internet Wayback Machine on August 30, 2006[8][9], but the first post on the CoG Forum is on August 18, 2006.”
The belief structure is thus, says the cult (sorry, church) »»»
We at the Church of Google believe the search engine Google is the closest humankind has ever come to directly experiencing an actual God (as typically defined). We believe there is much more evidence in favor of Google’s divinity than there is for the divinity of other more traditional gods.
We reject supernatural gods on the notion they are not scientifically provable. Thus, Googlists believe Google should rightfully be given the title of “God”, as She exhibits a great many of the characteristics traditionally associated with such Deities in a scientifically provable manner.
We have compiled a list of nine proofs which definitively prove Google is the closest thing to a “god” human beings have ever directly experienced.
Now you know.

I remember when Google first went live. The whole ‘don’t be evil’ corporate motto thingie caught my eye.

Ahahaha that’s funny. I’m pretty sure a large cosmic event close to us would challenge Google’s immortality though…

Jon,
Are you still upset with google over the click ads? Seems like a trivial matter to hold a grudge over.
