David Goldman: looking for Sean in Brasil

As invariably the case,when you go looking for something online, you never know what else you’ll find and Dana probably came across it a because ‘Brasil’ and ‘extortion’ were in the headline.

There is currently a young boy, named Sean Goldman, who has been abducted from the USA to Brazil by his mother. Although a court order stated the boy was to be immediately returned to his father, Brazil has yet to honor it, four years later.
The mother is now deceased and her widower STILL refuses to return the child to his only living parent. This new husband is a prominent family lawyer in Brazil named Joao Paulo Lins e Silva. He and his father, Paulo Lins e Silva, are experts in the field of family law and have used all of their connections to illegally harbor this child.
The story is recently gaining worldwide publicity, except in Brazil because of a media ban issued by a judge that Lins e Silva himself petitioned! The oppression and disregard for the law here is terrible and what is worse is that citizens of Brazil will never even realize because the very same people abusing the law are the ones banning the press from exposing them. Shed some light on this situation in South America!
The entire world is learning of the case and wondering why no one is doing anything about it in Brazil, the problem is, hardly anyone in Brazil even knows this is going on except the local courts in Rio, who are under this corrupt family`s thumb. Don`t let these immoral people tarnish the reputation of everyone!

Karma,even though you lost four years,you still have memories I seen your story on tv last week and usually I don’t get very emotional,but I want to let you know I support you 100%. You will see Sean soon again

My daughter was taken to Saudi Arabia in December, 2004. I find it sickening that Brazil has gotten away with doing absolutely nothing to help you get your son back. I wish you all the luck, strength, and support you need to get him back home safely.

Meu Deus, eu sei que a justiça Brasileira não funciona , pois tenho sentido isto na própria pele, eu irei escrever um livro um dia com o seguinte titulo : 2 americanos , um luta para ficar com o filho o outro luta pra não querer o filho e colocar a foto dos 2 lado, não da uma boa História? minha História não é muito diferente, vou resumir: conheci um americano no Brazil em minha cidade São José dos Campos – SP e tive um filho com ele hoje com 8 anos, o pai quando soube da gravidez, ignorou e não me deu assistência, quando o filho nasceu entrei na justiça para pedir a paternidade, depois de 4 anos o filho foi registrado no nome dele mas até hoje ele não da nenhuma ajuda moral e financeira para o filho, meu filho é lindo e sempre pergunta pelo pai, sente falta e chora, e quer conhecer o pai, já pedi pra minha advogada solicitar a carta rogatória , para o processo se enviado a San Diego u.s.a local onde mora o pai, mas nada disso ainda foi feito, eu brigo para meu filho ter um pai, e este pai briga pelo filho, que paÃs é este que eu vivo? como pode ser, gostaria de conhecer este pai e dar meus parabens por sua luta.

I sure know what David is going through. I lived in Brazil for 10 years, got married to a Brazilian and we had a son Nicholas Aviles. We were separated in 2007 and to this date I have tried to get in contact with my son to no avail. Fabiana, my ex-wife, let the town of Uberlandia, where we lived, a fled. I went to the police, got a lawyer, filed a petition with the local court and to this day nothing has been done. I had to return to the US for a family emergency and my lawyer told me that if I came back to Brasil i would be arrested as my ex-wife filed a complaint with the court. I just could not believe it! This is a women that I gave everything, car, home,travel and I even paid for here grad degree.
I still continue to search for my son… he will be 7 this August. The last I heard he was living in Caldas Novas but I am fearful of being pulled into a Brazilian jail. Like David, I will not give up!!!!
