Le Trung’s Aiko Android saga

p2pnet news view | Cool:- As the Aiko Android saga continues, p2pnet shamefacedly admits it may have been wrong about her creator, Le Trung’s, motifs.

In our first instalment, “Aiko is what happens when science meets beauty,” we said quoting The Telegraph.

Le Trung had, “taken out credit ecards and loans, sold his car and spent his life savings on perfecting his ‘fem-bot’,” said the story. “Now he’s, “desperate to find a corporate sponsor to help him complete and perfect Aiko, it said.

In Part Deux, “The world’s press is gaga over Aiko,”declared p2pnet, continuing »»»

She`s a life-like female robot created by Le Trung, a chemist graduate from York University in Toronto.

British tabloids couldn`t resist it and ran with lurid stories about how he`d built the android because he couldn`t find a girlfriend.

The Canadian Press wasn`t much better.

Modest inventor shies from sex, hopes his lady robot will be used for good, says a CP headline.

But sex was never a part of Le Trung`s plans.

And in yesterday’s post, we noted Aiko’s ongoing presence in the world media had apparently inspired at least one company to launch an  advertisement featuring another far more robot-looking female robot next to the intro to a story featuring Le Trung’s  femme fatale, noting:

“Aiko is cool but IOHO, she’s hardly a sex-bomb.

“CTV also runs a video of Aiko its story on the android and by and amazing concidence, it kicks off with another robo-girl to rival Aiko. And this time it has very definite, and unmistakable, sexual overtones.

It’s an advertisement in which a female robot lovingly strokes a man’s face in what a promo page for a model agency calls a “high-tech Ad spot” featuring a “hot [male] model” getting a close shave under the shower.

Now, “Le Trung has worked on commercial AI-based projects, but it’s not clear how ‘real’ Aiko is,” says The Guardian.

“While there are plenty of video clips on YouTube, I can’t see any that show Aiko interacting at a high level with anybody except Le Trung, and her responses to him are suspiciously good. There should be a market for something that works as well as this.”

And, something p2pnet hadn’t noticed the first time it visited Le Trung’s Project Aiko site, Le Trung states, “Yes, Aiko has sensors in her body including her private parts, and yes even down there.

“And Yes Aiko is still a virgin, and No I do not sleep with her.”

But maybe we were right in the first place.

“Mr Le said he didn’t design Aiko for sexual purposes, but it was one possible use of the technology,” says NEWS.com.au, adding:

“In theory, yes it’s capable of that and whether people want to use it like that, it’s up to them,” he’s qwuoted as saying.

So why does Aiki have seemingly functional naughty parts?

“I designed Aiko to be as human as possible, that’s why I designed it like that,”the story has him saying.

Stay tuned?
