Twilight: the vegetarian vampire flick

p2pnet news view | Movies:- Twilight the [Vampire] book and Twilight the [Vampire] movie are both seriously lame, but they’re both raking it in.

“A teenage girl risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire.”

No kidding. ;)

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga, “a series about vampires written for teenage girls,” got royally pissed when one of her books was leaked online.  So she put it on hold “indefinitely,” said a p2pnet story.

The movie and music industries claim when something turns up on the Net, the life-blood is automatically sucked out of sales.

It’s total bilge but Meyer, a “Mormon who put new life into vampires,” as The Guardian summed it up, presumably had the same fears.

We have, “two characters talking about the fact that they were in love,” says the story. “He was telling her that his problem was that he wanted to kill her because she smelled so tasty.”

That’d do it. heh

Now, “Meyer has joined the illustrious line-up of authors who have tapped into the obsessive adolescent market, by luck or design.”

She, “tells the story of a human girl, Bella (played by Kristen Stewart), who falls in love with a 108-year-old vampire who looks like a 17-year-old boy, Edward (played by rising Brit heartthrob and former Harry Potter star, Robert Pattinson),” says the BBC.

But Edward is  a “cool, handsome, trendy school student, and a ‘vegetarian vampire’ — that is, he resists his inner desire to drink human blood and feasts only on animals instead.”

Vegetarian vampire? Only animals? That’s OK, then. ;)

Not to worry, though. The online appearance, the fact the writing is grade four level, the story line is pale and anaemic and the cookie-cutter characters have about as much depth as standard corporate movie and music offerings, haven’t mattered.

And there is a bright side.

The Twilight Trailer Spoof it spawned what has to be one of the most brilliant parodies ever. It’s bloody hilarious and way, way better than the Hollywood teaser it lampoons.

(Thanks, Liz and Emma)

The movie was pretty good. The beginning was boring but once it picked up, I was entertained. – twenty year old male. I bought the first book but couldn’t make myself read it so I gave it to my niece.

Predictably boring and puke inducing stimulus for the delusional mind of the teenage female.
