Woolies and the Beeb 2Entertain talks
p2pnet news view | Products:- Two of Britain’s best known ‘institutions’ — Woolies and the Beeb — have teamed up to form a joint venture, said p2pnet back in 2004, going on:
“BBC Worldwide Ltd, the BBC’s consumer commercial arm, and Woolworths Group plc plan to work together ‘in video and music publishing and TV/video production,’ they say.”
2 entertain Limited would, “combine the current video and music publishing and TV/video production businesses of the Woolworths Group subsidiary, VCI plc, with the video publishing business of BBC Worldwide,” said the BBC and Woolworths.
Then, at the beginning of this year, “Major high street retailer Woolworths has become the UK’s first major chain to announce it is to drop the in-store sale of HD-DVD discs in favour of rival format Blu-ray,” said p2pnet, quoting Digital Spy.
Now, “Britain’s Woolworths Group Plc said talks with the BBC’s Worldwide unit relating to the possible sale of its 40 percent interest in 2Entertain, their DVD publishing joint venture, were continuing,” says Reuters, adding:
” ‘Those discussions remain ongoing but no terms have yet been agreed,’ Woolworths said in a statement on Monday.”

Ye they went bust. Notice how the slimy politicians don’t help them out when they need it; only the rich bankers seem to be worthy for handouts.
