In the modern Russian jargon "bayan" often means a stale joke, old news or plagiarism. The origin is an infamous joke: yesterday we buried my mother-in-law... and have torn down two bayans. "Bayan" became a popular Russian internet slang after someone posted this joke several times in one forum. Now a user who posts old news, pictures or jokes is invariably labeled as "bayanist" and sometimes "awarded" with a photoshop-made picture containing an image of bayan.

Or there is a text smiley: [:]||||[:]

And after the bayan joke, Russian internet users kept sending to each other the story in the post, and this was dubbed "Canadian bayan" or simply "Canada" - which also means "a stale joke".

With all this snow Im really surprised there have not been major power outs.

Im just glad that it is the same everywhere. Id hate to see the people back east bragging if it was warm and sunny now.

I wonder where all the global warming experts are right now? I bet they are shoveling their driveways also.
