Actor Kevin Bacon is a Madoff victim
p2pnet news view | Crime:- If you share a movie or music file online, you’ll be hounded ceaselessly by the RIAA and MPAA.
And if they find out who you are, you’ll be publicly humiliated over and over, accused of being a criminal and a thief, and extorted.
But if you swindle people out of literally billions dollars, you’ll be walking around loose and free and a lot of people will be saying in breathless admiration, ‘What a guy’.
A Ponzi fraud is a fake investment operation, “that pays returns to investors out of the money paid by subsequent investors rather than from profit,” explains the Wikipedia.
Ask Bernard Madoff. He ran one and reportedly bilked ‘investors’ out of $50 billion. That’s him with the smirk on his face. Looks a lot movie star Michael Douglas, doesn’t he?
Speaking of actors, Kevin Bacon and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, were suckered by Madoff, say numerous reports.
“Bacon joins Hollywood victims such as director Steven Spielberg and his DreamWorks partner Jeffrey Katzenberg,” says the Evening Standard, going on:
“Their Wunderkinder Foundation charity is believed to have lost millions of dollars. Forrest Gump screenwriter Eric Roth was also hit. Uma Thurman’s fiancé, hedge fund tycoon Arpad Busson, is also among the victims.
“Madoff recruited wealthy investors at charity events and country clubs – including the Palm Beach Country Club.”
But Madoff isn’t getting off scot free.
“A copper sculpture of two lifeguards vanished from the side of the swimming pool at the $10 million home, where he had met many investors,” says the story.
It’s valued at $10,000.
So let’s see: 10,000 as a percentage of 50 billion is (takes socks off to help calculation) ……
