Handheld PC for blind people
p2pnet.net News:- "Maestro," the first mainstream handheld PC for blind and visually impaired people will be available in September, say Canada’s VisuAide and HP.
HP’s PR firm told p2pnet the price hasn’t yet been decided.
In the meanwhile Maestro, based on HP’s iPAQ Pocket PC, has text-to-speech technology and a tactile keyboard membrane over its touch pad, removing the need for a stylus.
"Maestro takes advantage of wireless communication networks, such as Bluetooth wireless technology, and can be operated with or without an external keyboard (Braille or standard)," says a statement. "Also, the device readily integrates other VisuAide or third-party applications offering users the latest innovations in handheld PCs."
The companies don’t say whether or not Maestro wil be available through retail outlets.
