RIAA Private Eye MediaSentry: on its way?
p2pnet news view | RIAA News:- I’ve had a couple of emails asking if yesterday’s post saying the RIAA has dropped MediaSentry, or is in the process of dropping it, is a spoof.
It isn’t.
The rumour - it’s substantially more, if p2pnet’s sources are correct, and I still have no reason to believe otherwise - says the RIAA is shucking off the “investigation” company, with a reputation as dirty as the RIAA’s, in favour of another of a similar ilk.
“MediaSentry has, of course, come under heat in a number of different states for the fact that it was ‘investigating’ without an investigator’s license and invading people’s privacy,” says Recording Industry vs The People, going on:
“Earlier this year it was found to have made diametrically conflicting written statements to 2 different tribunals within 30 days of each other, in 1 denying that it was an ‘expert witness’, in another claiming that it was an ‘exert witness’.
“If the [p2pnet] report is accurate, the termination comes at an interesting time, since MediaSentry’s investigator is the plaintiffs’ only fact witness to prove copyright infringement in Capitol Records v. Thomas, which is now headed for a retrial on March 9th.
“If he does take the stand, the reasons for his company’s termination will be fair game for cross examination.
“One also has to wonder if it’s in any way connected to the puzzling enigma of the New York Attorney General’s alleged involvement in the RIAA’s recent Wall Street Journal announcement that it would be reducing its p2p file sharing cases to a trickle.”
One also has to wonder what the RIAA is really up to - what new scenario does it have in mind?
Reports that it’s abandoning its attacks on the people its masters, Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG, depend on for their very survival, share about as much resemblance with reality as do Big $ claims that they’re being “devastated” byP2P file sharers.
They are indeed in dire straits, but only because of their own crass stupidity and blind refusal to accept the fact they’re now in the digital 21st-century and not the physical 1970s.
What’ll happen to all the cases the RIAA has launched against innocent American men, women and children using MediaSentry ‘evidence’ if and when it goes down?

all thats really happening if your sources are correct lol sorry cant resist , is that they are simply shifting the actual gathering to “another” outside agency one that does not as yet have said attention.
after all if the riaa can’t itself do the work to find YOU mister bad pirate, who they gonna call.

and more lawsuits continue to be launched as they now have htemselves stuck in a model that rmeovng that shows more how little they actually make from a few films of mediocre quality, yes dark night got 53 million, but was it really good?

The RIAA and their 4 criminals and parasites masters companies are not gong to make it. They will be prosecution for racketeering an most of their lawers will be debarded.

IDEA to pu tend to it.
YA know ho whtey want to threaten OUR ISPS, why not pass laws that forbid that PERIOD.
If thats the case then technically as case law your landlord would be 100% liable to rent you a room and you do anyhitng in it, which is not the case, and as such landlords would jsut stop renting to all low income earners.
Rents could rise beyond measure because of said liabilities.
This example is like your ISP providing you a service that your landlord does. THERE is NO difference. What the RIAA is technically doing in attempting ot get these deals is to say everyone is guilty so YOU Must do this and this.
Last i checked in both the USA and Canada as most of the civilized world YOU are innocent until proven guilty.
As such any politician or body that supports such discriminatory and defamatory conduct, actions and support to take your rights away is a traitor in your country.
Start treating htese people as traitors they are. They take vast sums of wealth form the economy and give NOTHING back.
And don’t giv me the oh once in a while osme actor gives to charity, look WHERE and whom they give and how much thet make , and if its JUST to lesson a tax burden.
Actors/Musicans that are in league with the riaa/mpaa are TRAITORS, anyone stand up bring it, we know the truth, you even try to
“subvert” other governments policies which is an act of treason.
copyright is supposed ot help the creator make SOME money not bleed and prevent technology knowledge and enjoyment form the masses,
IN USA how the hell do i benefit form a 95 year copyright?
IN canada how do I benefit form 50 year copyright?
What do I get out of it all? I get called a criminal , and treated worse then one ( at least they get a fair hearing and are presumed innocent )
We need to get more active with less tlak and more in your face ( NON VIOLENTLY of course )
When you hear of some actor making a presentation or whatever , be there and shout over at them WHY they support suing of innocent disabled people and lie to people that they are stopping suits when in fact not long after said statement they launched over 60+ suits
OR
yell
WHY do you sue innocent disabled people ( bit shorter )
then chant “SHAME SHAME”
