I’m sure I remember reading that the existing DRMed files would remain and that the DRM got more restrictive in terms of number of copies and number of computers. But I can’t find it again. Did I just dream that?

And guess what, the RIAA+Apple just dreamed up a way to increase the price. Doh! How long before they have to decrease the price again because Amazon are radically undercutting them?

Big Corp: sure, but see, it’s a really shiny *polished* turd! Look at the finish, look at that gorgeous packaging and most importantly the expensive branding we have put on it! (Reality distortion field comes on). Apple’s especially good at this.

Idiot Customer: Oh, I see! Can I taste it? hmmm… OMG delicious!! How much! How much! Name your price Big Corp! (Idiot Customer enthusiastically turns round and bends over.)

to add to the story: if you have already bought the itunes DRM BS and want to convert it to non DRM u have to pay them .30 cents a song LOL! suckers.

DRM no DRM who cares the files are still only 128 and they are charging more than it would cost to buy a CD.
When files are 320 then and only then, I may think about paying a dollar a song.
Itunes is more of a ripoff than CD’s ever were.

Just like fat-free potatoe chips are more expensive than the fatty cousins. I always thought that if you don’t put something in to begin with, that this would simplify the process, hence be cheaper.

glad all 45k music files I own I got from p2p sans DRM in the first place. I bet I could put them in iTunes, and upgrade them for .30c usd and ‘legitimize’ (sp?) them, thanks Apple. NOT.
