Have installed it on a P4 2ghz 512mb RAM, and it runs fine – faster in fact than the xp that was on it before. Some issues with installing programs after it is connected to a domain, but, as everyone says, it is still a beta. All in all, much better than vista. So far.

Just install a virtual machine and play with it until you’re bored. give vmware a try.

Remember folks, this is a beta, and thus it will likely be missing a lot of the bloat. I’ll wait until I see the final product before I start lauding M$’s efforts. Also, the guys beta testing these things often have top notch hardware… Personally, I don’t see why I need 4gb of ram or more just to run windoze, when ubuntu etc can run on 1gb very nicely; Yes I agree that hardware will be upgraded eventually, but that’s not an excuse to run a bloated, resource devouring operating system.

it’s been known to eat everything
ppl testing it that i know are experiencing all kinds of probs => hardware, software, security, privacy … you name it
try it on separate scrap box that u can toss

That’s why i said in previous post that it’s BETA, why should i or anyone do their work for them, pay me and i’ll think about it

Stick to well tested and proven OS’s and appz

Thinking about installing it on a spare partition on my main computer just to try it out, but was worried about drivers… Vista drivers you say? Hmmm…

Everything important is on Ubuntu, so I should be good to go… unless it causes physical problems with my computer…

never install a beta operating system on a main computer.
i installed it on a diagnostic laptop i use for connecting to SCADA units. The software i use to connect runs off vmware (which works on windows 7) and is windows 2000.

if you want to try it out find a computer that meets the requirements and does not have any important files on it.

Windows 7 looks to be on track. Runs better than XP did on my Laptop.
Now if we can convince MS not to fill it with extra stuff we don’t need I’ll be good to go.
And by extra crap I do not mean IE. We need IE to download Firefox or Opera …..

7 is indeed very good. It’s very snappy on my main PC and has some nice GUI enhancements. Older video cards and Creative sounds cards do work with it, regardless of any DRM crap – just make sure that you’re using the latest Vista drivers.

I’m gonna try it on one of my older machines and see how it takes to that.
