If what you say you have is that earth-shattering, then release it on the web anonymusly and cover your tracks. Or is it you want to be credited for finding all of this information? I’d say, if it’s that important, then people need to know. Let them decide if they want to believe it or not.

i can tell you real reasons and exactly why they have DRM, patents, throttling, DPI, spying, banks, scientology, NWO, attacks on P2P and the rest … but:
1 all comments would be deleted because “… this is not the right forum for it …”
2 i step out my door and i’d probably get busted or shot [for real]
3 cause ppl would think i’m a nut case, even though i can show lots of proof
4 religious nutz would hound me till 2012
5 if found out most of my business would disappear

too bad … over 30 yrs of digging gone to waste, you won’t be able to take on big biz and win, your loss on all the cool stuff you’ll never realize

I for one, hope for no drm, no patients, no copyright. Then we can actually make and remake things we want or don’t want. So if people wanted to make something better, they would need to buy first, then remix. Then charge the same amount.

It would be so amazing I’d think.

Man, that *so* makes me want to seek out and buy the music off that artist that I can’t hear and don’t know who it is! (sarcastic)
There’s not even a mention by YouTube that they’ve done this, leaving confused and frustrated users thinking that something is wrong with their computers.

This is an EXCELLENT idea
As for recognition: it’s easy to setup a relational database with references of who’s original code it is, everyone is happy.
Anyone lying or cheating goes into the hall of shame. That’s a much more powerful tool than manipulating courts, money, lawyers etc. when everyone knows someone’s a liar. Imagine that person being chastised everywhere they go or at worst excommunicated.

The only problem with this, as in science, are people who want to appropriate works of others claiming they wrote it.

Recognition remains important, because open source code contributed by someone and used by millions of people is far better than just claims to have some skills/experience on a resume.
