There are clues in many the episodes of both series. Of course after McGoohan fired George Markstein, he tried to make No. 6 as ubiquitously "Everyman" as possible, but he couldn't disentangle the show from allusions to the previous one. Officially, however, he can't be the same character, or else a battle over royalties for the Prisoner would ensue by the owners of Danger Man (NOT "Secret Agent" which was an American title). It was imaginative, beautiful, exciting and stirred a fan debate which will never be resolved, but it's still fun! The idea of a remake is horrible and sadly will fade into oblivion much like the remakes for The Invaders, Psycho and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, instead of being the entity the original is and will always be.
