‘Secret’ Australia broadband report
p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Australians won’t be allowed to see the contents of a special “expert” report prepared in the wake of bids for its national broadband network, for which $4.7 billion has been allocated.
Communications minister Stephen Conroy (right) said the report, due to reach the government yesterday, “would remain secret throughout the negotiation process,” says Australian IT, quoting him as saying:
“The disclosure of the contents of the panel of experts’ report before the completion of the process, particularly any negotiation phase, has the potential to prejudice the outcome of the process. As such, the Government will not be commenting on the contents of the report.”
But, “The Rudd Government should release both of these reports and seek public comment before making any final decision on a preferred tenderer,” story has opposition communications spokesman Nick Minchin saying.
“It seems the only person who doesn’t think the public should be kept fully informed about this process and given a say is Senator Conroy,” he stated, also calling for Conroy to, “reveal advice from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission”.
“Dragged over the barbs of regulatory tension between the two major bidders, Telstra and Optus,” the project is running over six months late, says Australian ITm, adding:
“Telstra has since been kicked-out of the NBN race.
“Today Senator Conroy congratulated the expert panel for its contribution to the process.”

Kevin Rudd would not know what the Gnutella or the BitTorrent Network or BitTorrent Trackers are even if they slapped him in the face or Network Neutrality
Optus(not even owned by Australia) is the biggest culprit yet their customers are blind to the throttling
The only piece of technology Mr Krudd has is a twitter and his first post has a spelling mistake
