Court to review Gary McKinnon extradition
p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Gary McKinnon, the British hacker who years ago penetrated American military systems in his search for hidden data on UFOs, will be allowed to apply for a judicial review against his extradition to the United States.
“Lord Justice Maurice Kay and Mr Justice Simon ruled that Mr McKinnon’s case ‘merits substantive consideration’ and granted him leave to launch a fresh challenge at the court in London,” says the BBC, going on:
“His lawyers had previously told the High Court that if he were removed from his family and sent to the US, his condition [he was recently diagnosed as having Asperger's Syndrome] was likely to give rise to psychosis or suicide.
The condition wasn’t taken into consideration by home secretary Jacqui Smith last October when she caved in to US demands that McKinnon be exported to the States for punishment.
Smith’s lawyers, “said she acted within her powers,” Says the story, adding:
“The judges said that although Ms Smith’s decision might be found to be “unassailable”, Mr McKinnon had an arguable case that should be tested in court.”
He was given an 11th hour reprieve, “days before a final decision on his extradition is made said he FreeGary site, quoting the The Ham & High, McKinnon’s local newspaper.
A self-described bumbling computer nerd, he hacked into US governments computers looking for evidence of a UFO cover-up and because of that, under the old George W. Bush regime, could have been classed as an ‘enemy combatant’ and interned at Guantánamo Bay.
Aged 42, he, “allegedly broke into 97 US military computers from his bedroom in Wood Green, North London” and thus faced at least 10 years in prison, “although some estimates put it much higher,” said The Times Online.

Gary I don’t understand why you call yourself solo…doesn’t that mean one? Daddy knows exactly what you were looking for and he is not happy with you costing all this money to the US and England with your lies. Nice try with the Asperger’s though…well not really. F with the US and get what’s coming to you…you are guilty and you need to be made an example of or the next thing you know the Chinese might think we are fair game and try it…oh I know their trying, but there are many people keeping tabs you just don’t see us…tell your UFO stories to your cell mates. 70 years is really not that bad, GITMO’s closed and so it will just be you and your wives. They will listen to your UFO BS but I’m sick of this circus. Give it up G and start spitting the truth or I will…I h8 hackers more than I do your story. It is 2/10/2009 you have 2 days. 2l84u2c
