Leyio upgrades the Sneaker Net

p2pnet news view | Cool:- | P2P:- Has the Sneaker Net just taken on a new look?

According to TechWatch it has.

It’s Leyio’s Personal Sharing Device (PSD) using UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology.

“The PSD combines 16GB of Flash storage with a high-speed ultra-wideband radio link that enables you to share music, photos, movies and other files at speeds of up to 10MB a second,” says the story, going on:

“You select files to beam on the PSD’s screen, although there’s also a USB port to plug in memory keys for any of your friends sadly lacking UWB technology (which to be honest, will be almost everyone at the moment).

You can apparently, “also get a little wireless action in at home with the included ‘Shuttle’ dongle for your computer,” says Engadet, “and it boasts a built-in fingerprint scanner to make all that data flying around a tad more secure. No word on a price just yet, but Leyio says the official launch is on track for April of this year.

    Neat.

They are doing what the ZUNE SHOULD have been able to do, restriction free, although without media playing support.
If they turn this into a media playing device, and it works well, sales should go through the roof.

I wonder how long before they are sued into nonexistence.
