Woman with AK47. And iPod.

p2pnet news view | Cool:- The caption to Foxtongue’s outrageous and amazing Flickr pic reads: mursI-pod, and goes on »»»

Female member of Mursi tribe in Southern Ethiopia.

Ak-47, lip plug, shell necklace, iPod and lip plug.

The 21st century on installment plan.

;)

The Mursi tribe lives in Southern Omo Valley in Ethiopia, says pbase.com, where you’ll find more excellent photographs (although not by Foxtongue).

But, it says:

“At the moment I would not recommend going to this tribe, unless you can visit a village that has not ‘profited’ from tourism and is therefore more pleasant. It would be much better if tourist companies would charge travellers a certain amount to visit a village so that this could benefit the whole local community. As it stands now, you have to pay for each photo separately and this is not a good way to see the village life at all.”

An AK47 and iPod – 2 essential requirements for any 21st century dweller.

if you check each of her tribal warez you’ll find something interesting, history has a lot to teach everyone :)

  4. Reader's Write Says:

I find this terribly sad as the tourists don’t realize they expect to visit these very primitive cultures, take pictures and be amused and not have an impact? Sure these people are different and probably have few if any of the issues we have. And what are they gaining from our culture and the people who visit them?
