Microsoft Songsmith Musical Laugh-in
p2pnet news view Music | Movies:- “Microsoft Silverlight powers rich application experiences and delivers high quality, interactive video across the Web and mobile devices through the most powerful runtime available on the Web,” promise Stevie and the Boyz.
But following a p2pnet story and subsequent enquiries by p2pnet reader Hook, an embarrassed National Film Board of Canada has had to admit using the app for a press conference was not, perhaps, the best way to go. In fact, they’ll now be re-staging it with something else, supposedly this week.
But Silverlight isn’t the only new Microsoft application with questionable qualities.
The company is also touting Microsoft Songsmith, a karaoke thingy which, “generates musical accompaniment to match a singer’s voice,” it says.
“Just choose a musical style, sing into your PC`s microphone, and Songsmith will create backing music for you. Then share your songs with your friends and family, post your songs online, or create your own music videos.”
It should read, “Then share the hilarious results ………”
To give you a clue, Micro says Songsmith is “Songtastic”. No! Really!
On the right is a clip from a YouTube video. It’s Sting singing the inimitable Police hit Roxanne under Songsmith, and to give you another clue, the pic is a mess.
Below, thanks to Randy Blumhagen, are three Songsmithed YouTube videos (including Roxanne).
They’ll leave you rolling on the floor laughing hysterically.
Guaranteed.
Meanwhile, rumours that Microsoft may be in copyright trouble with these shouldn’t be wholly discounted.
