‘Stunning political gambit’
p2pnet news view | Politics:- A “stunning political gambit that for a short time before Christmas riveted a nation, divided federal politics and sent Prime Minister Stephen Harper on a mad scramble to save his minority government from defeat”.
That’s how the Toronto Star’s Bruce Campion-Smith sums up the Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition, killed stone dead by the new Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff.
The coalition would’ve fared far better and been significantly more effective had the Green Party’s Elizabeth May been in the mix. But 20-20 hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Now, in a widely quoted comment, “We have a new coalition now on Parliament Hill,” says NDP leader Jack Layton.
“It’s a coalition between Mr Harper and Mr Ignatieff.”
Not really. Harper answers only to himself.
Campion-Smith has Ignatieff saying he comes out of the experience, “with the sense that we have changed Canadian politics.”
Correct. But not for the better.
Meanwhile, across the border …….

“Not really. Harper answers only to himself.”
Exactly. Harper answers only to himself and his masters from the multinational corporations, while Ignatieff is a political prostitute, IMHO.

as long as there’s bankers [who own corporations, who own smaller corporations, who own resources and provide services, who run politicians] are running things there will be no real changes!
