Red Dwarf! The Return!

p2pnet news view Cool | TV:- Rejoice! Rejoice!  For Rob Grant and Doug Naylor’s Red Dwarf is returning!

But only briefly.

:sigh:

It was only the best sci-fi satire on TV, running on the Beeb between 1988 and 1999.

Says the Wikipedia »»»

The show originated from a recurring sketch, Dave Hollins: Space Cadet part of the mid-1980s BBC Radio 4 comedy show Son of Cliché, also scripted by Grant and Naylor. In addition to the television episodes, there are four bestselling novels, two pilot episodes for an American version of the show, and tie-in books, magazines and other merchandise.

Despite the pastiche of science fiction used as a backdrop, Red Dwarf is primarily a character-driven comedy, with off-the-wall science fiction elements used as complementary plot devices. In the early episodes, a recurring source of comedy was the “Odd Couple” relationship between Dave Lister and Arnold Rimmer, the two central characters of the show, who have an intense dislike for each other but are trapped together deep in space.

“Red Dwarf: Back to Earth will air on UKTV digital channel Dave over the Easter weekend,” says The Guardian.

Back to Earth?! Say it ain’t SO!

The show will, “sit alongside two further new episodes – the improvised Red Dwarf: Unplugged, which will feature the cast dealing with no sets, effects or autocue, and Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth, a behind the scenes look at the new production,” the story, adding:

“The new two-parter will begin a decade on from when the crew of the Red Dwarf were last seen, with a ’shock development’ throwing Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten back to Earth.”

I’m the proud owner of an original Red Dwarf T-shirt. My daughter, 12, uses it as a night-shirt. But still …
