George W Bush shoe thrower honoured with statue

p2pnet news view Politics | Cool:- A huge bronze shoe has been erected the Iraqi town of Tikrit, the late Saddam Hussein’s former home, to honour Muntazer al-Zaidi, the Iraqi journalist became instant famous when hruled his shoes at ex-US president Scourge W Bush last year.

“The shoe, in which a tree has been planted, stands three meters high (about 10 feet) and sits atop a white pedestal,” says Al Arabiya.net, adding:

“A rose bush is growing next to the monument which was erected in the gardens of an Iraqi foundation that cares for children whose parents have died in the violence that has caused havoc in Iraq since the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

“A poem praising Iraqi journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi has also been written on a board and stands at the foot of the monument, the work of Iraqi artist Laith al-Ameri.” ‘This is a gift for the family of Muntazer al-Zaidi, a hero, whose act helped Iraqi people feel proud,’ a member of the children’s foundation told a crowd of 400 people gathered for the unveiling of the work of art.”

    George W was a truly great President. Give it a few years and He will be remembered for the huge favour he did for the Iraqi people in freeing them from the Tyranny of Saddam. It’s all those poxy Factions that are causing all the trouble there now.

    His other great act of course, was opening Guantanamo Bay – you really got to take a hard line with those terrorists. Do-gooders butt out! Now that Obama’s stupidly closing it, America will be attacked 9/11 style again soon enough – you mark my words.

    Shoe throwing my foot.

  4. Reader's Write Says:

    @ Political Analyst

    George was a nut job

  5. Reader's Write Says:

    i am an african from Nigeria, obama is so stupid to close down the Guantanamo Bay which bush build to defend the US citizens on terror attack.

    Us will be attached again, if obama do not take time in pleading the Muslims for reconcilaition forgeting the muslim attack on sept 11th.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

    Mr Zaidi showed the courage to do what the vast majority of Iraqi’s would love to do to Mr Bush.

    And the fact that he is being Tried for it shows Iraq is no Democracy, he is being tried without the consent of the people.

    His trial also proves that the US goal in Iraq was not to promote democracy, otherwise the government would not have

    forcefully had the statue honoring him removed or had him put on trial as his act is approved by most iraqi’s,

    but to promote their own selfish financial agendas.

    Lets see if we can get a campaign going to put Mr Zaidi on the ballot for president of Iraq.

    VOTE Al-Zaidi in 2009 Iraq Election.

  7. Dave Says:

    Damn.. the government ordered them to remove the shoe :(

    Oh yeah, I’m sure the Iraqis say a prayer for George W every night, especially since over 150,000 people have been killed since the illegal invasion. At least under Saddam they had peace.

  8. Political Analyst Says:

    “At least under Saddam they had peace.”

    Rose tinted glasses my friend.

    People conveniently forget that Saddam was an oppressive dictator. They forget about all the quiet killings, beatings and cruelty that are the core of such a regime.

    Peace my ass.

  9. Reader's Write Says:

    Lets not forget the Rumsfeld and the Bush admin sold all the weapons, gas, helicopters and “sprayers”, to Saddam to be used to mass murder the Kurds.

    Then when he turns his back on the states, changes the funds used in oil, and everything else, the US gets upset, invades and hangs him for the very thing they gave him.

  10. Jared J. H. Catapano Says:

    I guess for every statue of a horrid dictator, there must be a replacement of a reporter’s shoe. If you’re keeping score at home, that’s 1 for Iraqi frustrations, 23,043 for US and Allied forces.

  11. Yehhanyos Says:

    @Political Analyst

    You must be joking!!! right? what huge favour are you talking about? I find it very funny to thank someone who killed 150,000 person the majority of them are civilians!!

    And who in hell told you that the Iraqi people weren’t satisfied with their president? did they complain to Bush to release them from Saddam and his tyranny? or did he *INVADE* iraq for other reasons, personal reasons such as the oil and destroying a country that was supposed to play a big role in the economic and political world, and being near to iran (the next target) etc.. and BTW, where are the nuclear weapons that he was talking about? I’d rather live under a dictatorial government than asking the world’s policeman to free us and in the processes killing 150,000 person, those peolpe might be my brother, son or my dad.. do you realize how many years that iraq needs to recover from the damage that was done? it will take them 20-30 years

    If he really wanted to free the world from the terrorists, he should have started with israel that making massacres and destroying buildings over the childerns’ heads :( :( :( in every single day since 1917 !! do you see how many childrens/women/old mens being killed every day? what do you call that now?

    And wait.. you are pissed off because Guantanamo Bay detention camp got closed? you like to torture people, aren’t you? they *MAY* have done something wrong but this wasn’t the right way (the human way) to punish them!! such things are dealt with in courts and prisons etc.

    You better get your facts right before you say something!!!!

  12. Political Analyst Says:

    “You better get your facts right before you say something!!!!”

    Today’s most correct fact: You’re a dork.

    Now shut up.

  13. Yehhanyos Says:

    That’s what i thought, you have no reply to what i have said you kid as you don’t know what you talking about, now STFU!!

  14. coffee Says:

    if the Iraqis use their democracy similarly to Americans, then they will re-construct the shoe sculpture after U.S. forces leave (since the original is destroyed now) and make the new one twice as big

  15. Political Analyst Says:

    @Yehhanyos

    You’re not worth replying to. There’s a difference.

  16. Yehhanyos Says:

    @Political Analyst

    Oh yeah, i will let the people judge for themselves, everything is obvious.
    You are almost the only one who still lives in illusion.

  17. Political Analyst Says:

    Hey, just so you know everybody: Yehhanyos is actually my good friend Ahmed and we’re really just having a little banter here to liven up this thread a bit. We’re actually both big Bush supporters and think this statue glorifying that terrorist-sympathetic reporter Muntazer wottsisname is pathetic.

    Don’t let his denials fool you! :)

    Dave

  18. Yehhanyos Says:

    1) It’s not a joke.
    2) I was stating facts.
    3) It’s free speech where everyone has the right to say his opinion.
    4) I will not post any comments in this article again.

    Have a nice day :)

  19. I'm always right Says:

    Yehhanyos, Sadam rule = secular rule as in separation of church and state (unless it’s my church), now apologize to political analyst you hurt his feelings

  20. Political Analyst Says:

    “now apologize to political analyst you hurt his feelings”

    I am impossible to hurt! and Yehhanyos is Ahmed who is my very good friend and staunch George W Bush supporter, as I explained above. :)

  21. Bob Says:

    Remember all the Democrats who were telling us to “move on” from Clinton? Guess what. . .

  22. Yehhanyos Says:

    @I’m always right

    I didn’t say Saddam was a good man, he was a dictator, but he wasn’t the only one,
    and i gave an example with israel!!

    Again, if you want to free the world from the terrorists

    Start from here ——————->>>>>> IsRaEl

  23. Dave Says:

    Yehhanyos: You are a fool. I’d redo the research on Israel if I were you.

  25. Andrew Yu-Jen Wang Says:

    Speaking of George W. Bush:

    George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

    George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

    And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

    Many people know what Bush did.

    And many people will know what Bush did—even to the end of the world.

    Bush was absolute evil.

    Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

    Bush is a psychological prisoner.

    Bush has a lot to worry about.

    Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

    In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.

    I am not sure where I had read it before, but anyway, it is a linguistically excellent statement, and it goes kind of like this: “If only it were possible to ban invention that bottled up memory so it never got stale and faded.” Oh wait—off the top of my head—I think the quotation came from my Lower Merion High School yearbook.

    Greeting. He was one of those men who think that the world can be saved by writing a pamphlet.
    I am from Malaysia and too bad know English, tell me right I wrote the following sentence: “Net provides discount hotels and cheap airline tickets reservations.”
