Meet Michael ‘Coalition Killer’ Ignatieff
p2pnet news view | Politics:- There’s a new gun in town.
Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff.
And appropriately, he has a new name.
Coalition Killer.
Nor will it rest there.
“We have a new coalition now on Parliament Hill,” said NDP leader Jack Layton when the news broke that Ignatieff had snuggled up to George W. Harper.
“It’s a coalition between Mr Harper and Mr Ignatieff.”
Not really, said p2pnet. Harper answers only to himself.
Yesterday, “furious federal New Democrats turned their scorn on Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, the man who to them has become The Coalition Killer,” says the Vancouver Sun, going on »»»
The party quickly launched an advertising campaign that aims to vilify the Grit leader for getting into bed with Prime Minister Stephen Harper in support of Tuesday’s budget.
In its first phase, the campaign consists of two 30-second English-language radio ads being broadcast in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, regions where the party elected new MPs last October or where voter support is growing.
Party rep Karl Belanger said a French-language ad is almost ready to go and, depending on donations flowing from the campaign, TV ads may follow.
The original intention, “had been to advertise in support of the Liberal-NDP coalition proposal to replace the Harperites, Belanger said,” adds the story.

He is as warm as a steel post in Winnipeg in January, but in my opinion, he’s doing the right thing. The Liberals need to build their strength from the ground-up, and not rely on partnerships with parties from the far-left. Too many centrist Liberal voters would rather stomach the Conservatives than support Jack Layton’s party.
On another note, has Jack Layton actually DONE anything besides slam everyone else? His antics are getting old.

oh you make it sound like the ndp party got 5% of the national vote when in reality it got almost 21% the liberals in end got about 29% and the conservatives about 38%
so the NDP base is almost as large as the liberals and when you consider i know lots a people that strategically voted liberal in some riding’s to try and unseat a conservative.
had the coalition took place or took out the budget a speech to the GG would have been like this, we goto the polls and not much changes and you wasted millions or give us a try. Stable govt for 18 months then.

I think we need to take back some of the centrist liberals we used to have and send the ndp back to the wacko fringes were they belong.
