Hej Matematik marketing ploy?
p2pnet news view Music:- “American supergroup R.E.M. have accused Danish pop band Hej Matematik of copying one of their new songs,” said the Coppenhagen Post, recently, going on:
“The only problem is that the disputed Danish song ‘Walkmand’ is actually a cover version of a 1980s hit by a fellow Danish artist.
“Hej Matematik’s record label, Copenhagen Records, said in a statement today that they have been accused by R.E.M’s label, Warner Music, of plagiarising part or all of the recent song ‘Supernatural Superserious‘. As a result Hej Matematik’s ‘Walkmand’ may not be uploaded to either YouTube or MySpace.”
But a day later, “The head of Warner Music Denmark, Mickey Lund, has denied that the label attempted to block the song and said that the block had been caused by a fault in the YouTube computer system,” says another Coppenhagen Post item.
“Neither R.E.M. nor Warner Music has asked YouTube to remove anything to do with Hej Matematik from the internet. And YouTube has not informed R.E.M. or Warner Music of any such action,” said Lund to public broadcaster DR.
There’s been speculation over whether or not Copenhagen Records, “”jumped the gun with their accusation or if it was just a clever marketing ploy,” the story adds.

ya, oops, we never intended the DMCA takedown notice that is already automated. gee, imagine all the other erroneous DMCA takedown notices we generate every day, and dont really care if they are erroneous. ‘its youtube’s fault’, ya, thats it.
seems only the ISPs, congress, and Judges take the MAFIAA at their word for face value, erroneous or not.
