Canadian sentenced to beheading reprieved

p2pnet news view Off Topic | Crime:- A Canadian student sentenced to death by beheading in Saudi Arabaia has been reprieved, says the Canwest News Service.

Mohamed Kohail from Montreal was condemned for killing a 19-year-old Syrian man in January, 2007, in Jeddah, says the story.

The Kohail family emigrated to Canada in 2000 and become Canadian citizens in 2005, says the National Post, going on:

“The family’s nightmare began soon after they left Canada for Saudi Arabia in late 2006, to celebrate the marriage of their daughter.

“After a 19-year-old Syrian man died during a schoolyard fight in January, 2007, Mohamed Kohail was charged in his death.

“Last March, a lower Saudi court ordered him executed with a sword.”

However, charges against Mohamed Kohail remain and have yet to be re-addressed by a lower Saudi court, says Canwest, adding:

“Sultan [Mohamed's brother], who was charged in the same incident and is free on bail, is waiting to learn his fate. He was originally tried in Saudi youth court and sentenced to 200 lashes — but now faces trial in adult court, where he could face a death sentence.

“The Kohails have maintained evidence not permitted to be entered in court suggests the two were trying to escape from a mob and did not cause the Syrian man’s injuries.”

What was the evidence that wasn’t allowed in court? Why wasn’t it allowed? Inquiring minds want to know….

In all seriousness, though, beheading seems like a really harsh penalty in any event. If it was murder, death, sure, but by something as tortuous as *that*? Shudders.

    Save for the RIAA parasites.

Even this might not be enought though because tap worms are able to regrow their heads since they have no brain.
