p2pnet.net News:- Yesterday we reported that Big Music’s claims that p2p file-sharing is killing CD sales notwithstanding, US album numbers for the first half of 2004 are up.
Now we learn the movie studios, who similarly whine that p2p networks are ruining the industry and causing terrible hardship to The Workers, are seeing record revenues.
US box office beats $1bn record, says a headline in a BBC story here.
“US box office takings passed the $1bn (£545m) mark for the first time in June, led by the success of the third Harry Potter film, a survey indicated,” it says, continuing:
“The North American box office took $1.03bn (£562m) during June, Hollywood Reporter found - a 14% increase on June 2003’s previous monthly record.”
If accurate, “the June record would beat the previous high of $906.6m (£494m) achieved last year, when Disney’s animated film Finding Nemo became a cinema hit.”
The box office tally for June 2004 is 37% higher than the same period in 2001, adds the story.
There’s nary a mention of trials and deprivations.

How is it that we can all know the numbers and still not be able to expose Big Music and Hollywood as liars? It’s hard to say that they’re losing all that much money if they’re making more than they have in the past. Yes, you’re losing a ton of money! You could have had $1.1 billion instead of just 1.
Then again, they probably are losing some cash (and I’ve got a nice big smile thinking of it) from their futile fighting against p2p and piracy. Wonderful idea, spend an assload of money to make your product more inferior than it started off and piss off your consumers.

It’s easy to see why their Box office revenues are up??? It’s all the pirates in the theatre with camcorders filming the Picture so they can upload it later onto P2p networks!!!!That will be the Next Big Lie from Hollywood!!!!!!!!!!!!
