Mother sues Scientology over son’s suicide

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- There’s a site in memory of a young man who died in April, 1986.

It’s entitled, simply, Kyle Thomas Brennan.

And there’s another, also dedicated to him.

But this time, it’s In Memoriam: Scientology Victim Kyle Brennan.

And now his mother, Victoria, who lives in Florida, is suing the cult,  saying it, “contributed to her son’s death by denying him access to antidepressants,” says United Press International.

“The lawsuit filed in Tampa, Fla., contends that 20-year-old Kyle Brennan shot himself in 2007 while with his Scientologist father, who allegedly took away Brennan’s medication and tried to put him into a church-oriented drug treatment program,” says UPI.

In a letter posted on the second site, “The statement that my son died for Tom Cruise’s Scientology beliefs is completely false,”" says his mother, going on »»»

Kyle never practised, adhered to, or believed in the doctrine of Scientology. He was sent literature from the cult by his father, an avid member of the so-called church located in Clearwater, Florida. I am refraining from using the many negative adjectives that Kyle used to describe their beliefs after reading the literature sent to him, but absurd and ludicrous wwere two of his favorites.

I am uncertain as to what unfortunate events led to the tragic death of my dear son, who at the time was staying with his Scientologist father. I can say that his depression medication was not found on his person when police searched a crime scene. I was also informed that when Kyles father found him he waited forty-five minutes before calling for medical assistance. He called a fellow Scientologist first, and then waited for him to arrive on the scene before calling an ambulance or the police. The thought of this inhuman behavior will haunt me and the rest of my life.

The lawsuit alleges two other Scientology members, “convinced Thomas Brennan to lock up his son’s medication,” says UPI, adding:

“The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times said Tuesday that church officials denied any role in Brennan’s death, saying the defendants weren’t Scientology leaders and the incidents all took place off church property.”

(Thanks, Marc)
