But cell phones ringing in the middle of a performance are no longer a problem in some Beijing theatres because a palm-sized “magic box” zaps them with a “with a strong interfering radio signal” as soon as they start.

Managers say they’re forced to use the Ring Killer “since most people don’t heed the request that they turn their phones off during performances,” says the story, adding:

“Mobile phone pollution is not only a problem in theaters, but also in libraries, and even exam rooms.”
