Paid ads on Android gooPhone: report
p2pnet news view | Advertising:- Back in late 2007, “In a bid to force its near dominance of cyber-space advertising into the world of mobile phone platforms, Google is now waving $10 million at developers,” p2pnet posted.
“Last week it announced it and 33 other firms were collaborating on what’s being called the Android Open Handset Alliance Project.”
Android is, of course, the gooPhone, Google’s answer to You Know What.
Then, “Ads, and an invasive new model of data collection to target them,” said p2pnet this year, going on:
“That’s Jeffrey Chester’s prediction, quoted in a Forbes story on how Google will ’squeeze revenue’ from its Android mobile platform.”
Chester’s advocacy group, the Center for Digital Democracy, along with the US Public Interest Research Group, was, “expected to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission that alleges deceptive practices throughout the nascent mobile advertising industry and asks the commission to launch an investigation into the privacy implications of marketing practices targeted at cellphone users,” said the story.
Now, “We just got a tip that if you`re running the latest T-Mobile G1 OS [read gooPhone], you`ll now see paid applications finally appear in the Android Market,” says the Boy Genius Report excitedly, continuing:
“We’re in the process of booting up our G1, so we can’t confirm this ourselves, but it sure as heck does seem likely. Anyone bought anything yet?
“UPDATE: We`re not seeing paid apps either yet, hmm
“UPDATE 2: We just got some screenshots – there are definitely paid applications. Couple more shots after the break.”
Well, has anyone bought anything yet?
