Walla leads in Email Stakes
p2pnet.net News:- Yahoo, Google and Microsoft have been changing positions for dominance in the YaGoogleHot Email Stakes with variations on the G1G (Google 1 Gig) theme.
“It’s just data waiting to be managed,” says the Seattle Times’ Charles Bermant.
In the eyes of the beholders, however, it’s all about How Much and When and Israel’s Walla Communications appears to have roared into First Place.
In April it said it planned to become the first company to offer one-gigabyte e-mailboxes to customers.
And it says it’s met that goal.
“Walla’s 1 million e-mail users, primarily located in Israel, have been bumped up from 6MB of storage to 1GB,” deputy ceo Erez Philosoph is quoted as saying in an DG News Service story here.
Not only but also, they’ll be able to watch video clips in their in-boxes.
“We were thinking about raising its the storage limit to 100MB before Gmail and we heard about their service we said we can do that,” Philosoph said.
“I think in the broadband era people should have more fun with their e-mail,” Philosoph adds.
